숨겨진 이야기
"앞으로 서울역의 100년을 큐레이션 부탁드려도 될까요?"
고객들이 떠난 한 여름, 블루도어북스 한강진에서 기획자님과 만나 이야기를 나누는데, 얼마나 난감했는지요.
정말 당장 오늘의 일도 잘 모르는 우리가, 항상 다른 분들에게 말씀을 드릴 일이 있으면
'저도 정말 잘 몰라요. 저의 경우는 이러 이러했습니다.'라고 이야기를 시작하는데 아득한 일백 년의 시간을, 그것도 책으로 큐레이션을 말씀하시니
고개는 끄덕거렸으나 '매우 어렵군!'이라고 속으로 생각하고 있었어요.
그래도 전시까지 시간이 조금 남아있어서 정말 매일매일 걸으면서 생각했어요.
사실, 앞으로 세상이 어떻게 달라질지 아직 잘 모르겠어요. 그래도 세상이 아무리 변해도 늘 귀하고 사랑이라 불리는 것들이 있다고 생각해요.
시와 꽃.
백 년 전에도 그러했듯이, 앞으로의 백 년 후에도 이렇게 아름다운 서울역은 여전히 사람들 마음속의 시와 꽃으로 남아있을 거예요.
여러 가지 이유로 꽃을 올려놓진 못했지만, 꽃과 관련된 워크숍과 시와 관련된 워크숍을 10월 중순부터 만나실 수 있어요.
혹시 몰라요. 블루도어북스가 남들 몰래 꽃 한 송이씩 올려놓을지도.
이렇게 귀한 걸음으로, 이야기를 봐주셔서 정말 진심으로 감사드려요.

A Hidden Story
"Could I ask you to curate the next hundred years of Seoul Station?"
One midsummer day, after the customers had left, I sat with the curator at Bluedoor Books Hannam and heard those words. How overwhelmed I felt.
We can hardly know even today’s matters, and whenever we have to speak to others, we usually begin by saying: “I truly don’t know either. In my case, it was like this, and this…” But to be asked to curate a hundred years—into a book, no less—had me nodding politely while secretly thinking, “That is most difficult indeed!”
Still, with a little time left before the exhibition, I walked every day and pondered.
The truth is, I do not yet know how the world will change. Yet I believe that no matter how much it does, there will always remain things we call precious, things we call love.
Poetry and flowers.
Just as it was a hundred years ago, so too a hundred years from now, the beautiful Seoul Station will remain in people’s hearts as poetry and as flowers.
For many reasons we could not place flowers here, but from mid-October you will be able to join workshops on flowers and on poetry.
Who knows—Bluedoor Books might secretly leave a flower behind, one by one.
